THE NEXT CHAPTER OF ACPL

BUILDING FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW

Your Allen County Public Library is excited to share its Facility Master Plan with its community of patrons, donors, and other stakeholders. We spent 2021 evaluating the condition of our buildings and asking what changes need to be made in order to support our mission of enriching the community through lifelong learning and discovery. We spent 2022 sharing our findings with the community and listening to your feedback. Learn more about ACPL’s recommendations for each location by reading the full plan.

THE NEXT CHAPTER OF ACPL

BUILDING FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW

Your Allen County Public Library is excited to move forward with Phase 1 of our Facilities Master Plan. Since 2021, the ACPL has evaluated its current facilities, conducted multiple focus groups, surveys, and open hearings, and developed a comprehensive plan that is a true reflection of the community’s needs. The Facilities Master Plan includes improvements at all locations funded by a combination of Library reserve funds and property tax bonds. The Board’s Capital Projects Committee has prioritized a Phase 1 of projects at locations whose current facilities are not sustainable due to age, size, or severe structural problems. As of January 28, 2025, the Allen County Council, the Fort Wayne City Council, and the ACPL Board of Trustees have approved the bond funding needed to move forward with Phase 1. We are excited to get to work building the library system of the future. Learn more about the proposed projects below!
