The Allen County Public Library has put the following COVID-19 protocols in place, updated March 26, 2021. ACPL is responding to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the following ways:

  • Adjust how services are delivered to the community
  • Limit occupancy in ACPL buildings
  • Take appropriate steps to manage rolling staff shortages throughout the organization.

The following practices will be in effect at all ACPL locations.

  • The public may access library locations to browse the collection, pick up holds, and use the Genealogy Center and Maker Labs without first making an appointment to do so.
  • The holds limit will revert from 20 items back to 10. If library users have more than 10 items on hold as of February 1, those items will not drop off the list. However, they will not be able to place additional holds until they are under 10 items.
  • Study rooms at all locations will be available by reservation.
  • Meeting rooms at Main will be available by reservation. Availability at branches varies by location.  Please contact your ACPL location of choice to determine whether meeting rooms are available to reserve.

The following services will be available to our community:

  • Curbside delivery will be available at all locations. Please note that at the Shawnee Branch, materials can be picked up at the door instead of at curbside.
  • Public computers will be available at all library locations.
  • Reference services will be available in-person at all ACPL locations; at 260-421-1200; or
  • Library cards applications will be processed in-person or online.
  • Library at Home will continue to provide service to homebound individuals and facilities where possible.

ACPL will enforce the following requirements of those wishing to enter library buildings:

  • The proper wearing of a mask or face covering is mandatory for all library visitors age 8 and older. Appropriate signage will communicate that expectation. Refusal to properly wear a mask prevents building entry and, while in the building, may result in being asked to leave.
  • If a library visitor is unable or unwilling to wear the appropriate face covering, he/she may access library services through other methods.
  • Food/drink are not permitted by the public inside ACPL buildings in order to support the Library’s mask requirements.
  • Social distancing remains in effect in all locations.

Business hours for all ACPL locations are as follows.
