The Story Behind the Branch

The Aboite branch, named after the township in which it is located, opened in 1990 to serve the rapidly growing southwest corner of Allen County. Located in the Village at Coventry shopping center, there are many options close by for a snack or meal. We are a busy branch, one of the top three in terms of circulation of library materials and program attendance. We are well known for our helpful staff and welcoming atmosphere.  Patrons will discover not only a diverse collection of books, but also self-directed crafts and activities for children and teens, an imaginative-play area for young children and their grown-ups, and board games for all ages that are available for both in-house use and checkout. The children’s area is home to a friendly library dragon that hangs from the ceiling and greets visitors who enter. Our nonfiction collection includes a vast collection of cookbooks, started by the original branch manager, Susan Hunt. We offer one large meeting room and one smaller study room that may be reserved by non-profit groups and individuals, as well as 9 public internet computers (2 in the children’s area), 2 color printers, a photocopy machine, public fax machine, and scanner.  Free wifi is available throughout the building as well as on the grounds.
